Gout is a disease caused by high levels of uric acid in joints. When this acid builds up in the blood, it becomes crystallized and gets stored at different joints in the body, inflaming them and making them red, hot, and tender to touch. Although joint inflammation is the most common symptom of gout, kidney and urinary problems can result as well.
Medicine for gout can become tedious to execute, since gout can be caused by many other medical conditions, such as diabetes and leukemia.Gout occurs when there is too much uric acid in the blood. Certain individuals are more prone to get gout, including males over the age of 30, people who have a history of gout running in the family, individuals who are overweight, those who consume more than two alcoholic drinks daily or two carbonated beverages sweetened with sugar, cigarette smokers, those who regularly use diuretic medications and those who include abundant amounts of red meat, poultry, yeast and seafood in their daily diets.
Symptoms of a gout toe include intense pain, redness of the infected toe, and swelling of the infected area. A patient may think that he or she has broken his toe.
